Job Title
Senior Staff FPGA/FW/SW Verification Engineer — Platform Development for On-Board Subsystems
Role Summary
Member of Central Engineering hardware team responsible for platform development for on-board subsystems used in chip test infrastructure. Work spans FPGA, firmware, and software development, lab testing, simulation, and chip bring-up activities across multiple product groups.
This role focuses on verifying subsystem and top-level functionality, building automated test and simulation environments, diagnosing hardware/software failures, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure testability and successful integration.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in data communication systems development or similar hardware/firmware/software roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification, test development, and lab bring-up for on-board subsystems and platforms.
- Create, document, and execute subsystem and top-level test plans to verify design functionality.
- Build simulation environments (UVM/SystemVerilog/Python) to verify RTL and firmware designs and develop automated test scripts.
- Analyze test results, identify root causes of hardware and software failures, and drive fixes with engineering teams.
- Work with hardware and software teams to review functionality and ensure designs are testable and diagnosable.
- Generate test coverage reports and manage bug tracking related to platform verification.
- Participate in lab testing and chip-level bring-up activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role. Education items are listed separately under Education Requirements.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with HDL and firmware/software: Verilog, SystemVerilog, C/C++, and Python.
-
Must-have: Experience with simulation tools, UVM, constrained-random verification, assertion-based verification, and functional coverage methodologies.
-
Must-have: Strong scripting skills (Python; familiarity with Tcl or Perl is beneficial) and ability to develop automated test infrastructure.
-
Must-have: Practical lab experience and working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; solid lab techniques for board bring-up and debugging.
-
Must-have: Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work cross-functionally to resolve complex hardware/software issues.
-
Must-have: Eligibility to access export-controlled information as required; candidates may be subject to export license review prior to employment.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior experience in data communication systems or chip/test infrastructure projects and familiarity with chip bring-up processes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required; Master’s degree preferred. (Degree information was provided in the original posting.)
