Senior Staff Firmware Engineer (Firmware / Low-Level Software)

Role Summary

Design and implement low-level firmware and platform software for Compute, Storage, and custom ASIC platforms. Collaborate with hardware, design, and software teams to bring up, validate, and secure hardware reference platforms and management controllers.

Primary mission is to ensure secure operation, high performance, and seamless system integration of Marvell silicon solutions.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5–10 years of firmware/software development experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Design and develop low-level firmware for Compute, Storage, and custom ASIC products.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering to bring up, test, and validate hardware reference platforms.
• Develop firmware/software for Management Controllers to improve testability and validation.
• Create comprehensive test cases, contribute to test automation, and advance CI/CD pipelines for firmware qualification.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Hands-on experience with low-level platform software/firmware, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
• Strong knowledge of Arm Cortex-M, Cortex-A, and RISC-V architectures.
• Proficiency in C programming and debugging.
• Proficiency in Rust.
• Experience with real-time operating systems such as Zephyr or Tock.
• Experience writing drivers for UART, SPI, I2C/I3C, USB, PCIe, and similar interfaces.
• Strong experience with Arm TrustZone and secure firmware implementation.
• Understanding of SoC security architectures and secure boot flows.
• Eligible to access export-controlled technology; export license review may be required.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is specified. The posting indicates 5–10 years of firmware/software development experience.
