Senior Staff Field Applications Engineer (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Senior Field Applications Engineer responsible for driving design‑in and system adoption of Renesas automotive analog, power, sensing and digital products for E/E and IVI applications across the EMEA region.
The role interfaces directly with OEM and Tier‑1 customers, internal application engineering, product marketing and system architects to define product requirements, support integration, and deliver system demonstrators and technical training.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 10 years of related experience, including at least 5 years in E/E and IVI applications.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on customer technical support, product definition, and cross‑functional project leadership to achieve design‑in targets.
- Drive design‑in activities for the automotive product portfolio in E/E and IVI applications across EMEA.
- Define new products with customers and internal marketing/applications teams.
- Act as technical interface and advisor to customers (especially OEMs) during development.
- Derive customer system requirements and market trends to develop system value propositions.
- Understand ADAS/AD product architectures and partner ecosystems to recommend optimal system designs.
- Manage projects with Sales and Marketing to meet design‑in objectives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with customer engineering departments.
- Support global/regional innovation projects and cross‑functional teams.
- Lead technical discussions with system architects and application engineering experts to define application roadmaps and product requirements.
- Develop documentation and system demonstrators combining hardware and software; provide trainings and present technologies in technical seminars.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills and domain experience; preferred items noted.
- Minimum 10 years related work experience; 5+ years working in E/E and IVI applications.
- Experience in hardware and software development for automotive applications (preferably at Tier‑1s or OEMs).
- Deep understanding of semiconductors including SoC, MCU, analog and power products.
- Familiarity with automotive communication interfaces: Ethernet (AVB/TSN), CAN FD, LIN, USB 2.0/3.0, PCIe, SerDes.
- Experience building systems with Functional Safety and Cybersecurity preferred.
- Practical understanding of development and manufacturing costs for commercial evaluation of system solutions.
- Project leadership and negotiation skills; ability to drive projects to completion in an international environment.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Education Requirements
A degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field of study.
