Job Title

Senior Staff Engineer, Product Marketing

Role Summary

Senior technical product-marketing role focused on MCU-based platform-management and control-plane solutions for datacenter server systems. The role translates system requirements from hyperscalers, OEMs/ODMs, and ecosystem partners into silicon and firmware product definitions, roadmaps, reference solutions, and go-to-market plans.

Work includes product definition for distributed management controllers and collaboration with silicon, firmware, applications, sales, and customer-engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior - requires 8+ years of relevant experience in system architecture, server platform management, embedded systems, semiconductor product definition, technical product management, or applications engineering.

Responsibilities

Lead product definition, customer discovery, and go-to-market activities for MCU companion and satellite-controller solutions in server and rack environments.

  • Define MCU requirements for platform management across compute, accelerator, storage, power, and cooling subsystems.
  • Translate customer and market input into MRDs, business cases, roadmap proposals, and investment priorities.
  • Specify use cases: rack-level monitoring/control, power sequencing, reset control, sensor aggregation, telemetry, thermal management, power capping, fault reporting, and recovery.
  • Define complete solutions: silicon, embedded firmware, protocol stacks (MCTP/PLDM/SPDM/Redfish integration), SDKs, tools/GUIs, and reference designs.
  • Lead technical discovery with hyperscalers, OEMs/ODMs, BMC and firmware vendors, accelerator teams, and power/cooling partners.
  • Assess competitors and convert insights into differentiated positioning and roadmap choices.
  • Create positioning, messaging, launch plans, sales enablement, and customer presentations; support design-in activities with sales and field engineering.
  • Align cross-functional teams on product concepts, roadmaps, launch readiness, and customer schedules.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience to perform the role.

Must have:

  • Deep system knowledge of server motherboards, CPU/GPU/AI accelerator platforms, storage backplanes, and power/cooling subsystems and their management interfaces.
  • Understanding of BMC-based out-of-band management, satellite controllers, MCU/RTOS firmware, and boundaries between local real-time control and system-level management.
  • Working knowledge of MCTP transport, PLDM monitoring/control and firmware update, SPDM authentication/measurement, and Redfish integration concepts.
  • Familiarity with sideband interfaces (I2C/SMBus, I3C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PMBus) and their implications for connectivity, latency, reliability, and MCU design.
  • Demonstrated ability to create product requirements, business cases, roadmaps, and go-to-market plans; strong communication with executive, technical, and customer audiences.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with hyperscaler or enterprise servers, GPU/AI accelerator trays, rack management, power shelves, fan controllers, or liquid-cooling management.
  • Practical exposure to OpenBMC integration, OCP DC-SCM/DC-SCI or modular server architectures, and interoperability testing of MCTP/PLDM/SPDM endpoints.
  • Experience defining secure, software-enabled controllers (secure boot, hardware root of trust, signed firmware updates, recovery, SDKs, reference designs).
  • Experience with server bring-up, power sequencing, telemetry and fault diagnostics, firmware lifecycle management, or customer design-ins with hyperscalers/OEMs/ODMs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degree in engineering or business is preferred; equivalent senior product-strategy experience is also acceptable. The posting specifies 8+ years of relevant experience for this senior role.
