Senior Staff Engineer, Product Definer (IC Architect)
Role Summary
Lead product-definition and system/application efforts for next-generation power management products in India. Own product requirements, coordinate with design, marketing, sales, and global teams, and provide deep technical customer support and training.
Work closely with management and cross-functional engineering teams to translate market and customer needs into product roadmaps and validated silicon-level solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience (12+ years) in power management within semiconductor companies, including product definition and customer-facing roles.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include product definition, customer support, and cross-functional coordination.
- Identify market opportunities and work with Marketing, Sales, and Business Management to define product strategy.
- Define product family roadmaps and produce detailed product requirements and design-spec documents.
- Support Sales/FAEs and customers with design-in, circuit review, debug, troubleshooting, and field-return analysis.
- Evaluate silicon at board level and drive FPGA-based prototyping to verify features and performance.
- Translate device/system use cases into product specifications and perform trade-off analyses for IP and architecture choices.
- Develop customer-facing collateral and provide technical training to internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide creation of application validation plans and ensure corner cases are covered.
- Drive system modeling requirements and collaborate with design teams to resolve conflicts between requirements and implementation.
- Support hiring and grow the product/system team as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors for the role.
- Proven product-definition and customer-support experience in power management (semiconductor background required).
- Hands-on lab experience: debugging, probing, and characterizing circuits and silicon using power supplies, e-loads, oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, and automated test setups.
- Board-level analog and digital circuit design and PCB schematic/layout experience; familiarity with PCB CAD tools.
- Understanding and application of control-loop theory for power converters.
- Experience with circuit simulators such as SIMPLIS (or similar) and capability to perform data analysis using Excel/JMP.
- Programming proficiency in C and Python for test automation and tooling.
- Ability to create clear product requirements, present technical material to customers and sales teams, and translate system needs into specifications.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to lead and motivate teams and collaborate across functions.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FEA tools for thermal/electrical/magnetic analysis.
- Familiarity with AECQ, IATF, or ISO 26262 (FuSa) standards.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
