Job Title

Senior/Staff Engineer, Firmware Test (SSD)

Role Summary

Senior/Staff Firmware Test Engineer in the Solid State Drive (SSD) group responsible for verification and validation of SSD firmware to ensure product performance and reliability for enterprise and automotive markets.

Work with firmware developers, test engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop test plans, automated test systems, analyze failures, and lead technical efforts to improve firmware quality.

Experience Level

Senior level (Senior/Staff). Role requests approximately 6–8 years of relevant SSD firmware test development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test planning, development, automation, failure analysis, and technical leadership.

  • Create comprehensive firmware verification plans for firmware features.
  • Design and execute white-box, grey-box, closed-system, and known-input tests for firmware validation.
  • Analyze regression failures and perform root-cause analysis requiring deep SSD domain expertise.
  • Manage test development, deployment, automation, and reporting activities.
  • Communicate technical challenges, solutions, and mitigation plans to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Participate in code reviews and guide teams to ensure coverage and correct architecture.
  • Collaborate closely with firmware development engineers to improve code quality.
  • Lead and mentor technical staff as required.

Requirements

Key technical skills and professional capabilities expected for the role.

Must-have:

  • 6–8 years of SSD firmware test development experience.
  • Substantial experience in SSD firmware testing and test automation.
  • Proficiency in Python for test development and automation.
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols such as PCIe and NVMe.
  • Experience with automated build systems, continuous integration, and test automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile workflows and Git branch management.
  • Proven problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks and demonstrate leadership/mentoring.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in enterprise or automotive SSD product environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
