Senior Staff Engineer, Applications Engineering

Role Summary

Customer-facing technical role focused on physical verification for advanced-node IC designs. Support customers in adopting IC Validator and related EDA tools, deliver verification solutions, and collaborate with R&D, product engineering, and sales to improve tools and workflows.

This role drives faster, higher-confidence tapeouts by developing runsets, automations, and technical enablement for customers.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 7+ years of industry experience in physical verification and EDA.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Engage with customers to identify and resolve physical verification challenges (DRC, LVS, FILL, PERC).
• Support sales and adoption of IC Validator via demonstrations, evaluations, and competitive benchmarks.
• Develop runsets, flows and automation using TCL, Python, PXL, and shell scripting.
• Provide training, technical account management, and documentation for customers.
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and Sales to drive tool improvements and customer success.
• Manage multiple customer engagements and respond to technical escalations.
• Travel as required to support customers, trainings, and conferences.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

• 7+ years hands-on industry experience in physical verification flows and runset development (DRC, LVS, FILL, PERC).
• Proficient scripting/programming skills (Python preferred; TCL, Perl, shell scripting).
• Experience with EDA verification tools such as IC Validator, Calibre, or Pegasus.
• Familiarity with backend physical design flows (Fusion Compiler/Innovus) and PEX flows; experience with custom layout tools (Custom Compiler, Virtuoso) is beneficial.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, technical documentation, communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience creating reusable flows, runsets, and technical enablement materials for customers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with VLSI/device knowledge (the posting specifies BS or MS in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or similar).
