Job Title

Senior Staff Engineer, Analog IC Design

Role Summary

Design and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for high-speed CMOS transceiver/SERDES products within Central Engineering. Work on circuits such as PLLs, DLLs, ADCs, regulators, amplifiers, TX/RX, and CDRs to meet performance targets.

Member of a small analog team providing IP used across storage, networking, and data center product lines; expected to own detailed implementation and collaborate with layout, measurement, and verification teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience guidance from the posting: 5+ years related experience for BS/MS holders or 3+ years related experience for PhD holders.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include circuit implementation, verification, measurement correlation, and mentorship/supervision of layout resources.

  • Design and implement analog/mixed-signal circuits (PLLs, DLLs, ADCs/DACs, RX/TX, CDRs, regulators, amplifiers, bandgap, filters).
  • Create and execute verification plans using industry-standard tools (Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB and similar).
  • Perform silicon measurement, debug issues, and correlate measurements to simulation results.
  • Supervise and coordinate analog custom layout activities.
  • Apply low-power and high-speed design techniques for deep sub-micron CMOS processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver IP used across multiple product groups.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience are listed below; education degrees are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Hands-on experience designing mixed-signal circuits including ADCs, DACs, RX/TX, PLLs, CDRs, filters, bandgap bias circuits, regulators, and other analog blocks.
  • Experience with low-power and high-speed analog design techniques and deep sub-micron CMOS technologies.
  • Experience measuring IC performance and debugging to correlate simulations with silicon measurements.
  • Familiarity with IC design and CAD tools such as Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, Hsim, and Verilog.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills; strong verbal and written communication; ability to work in a team.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating analog custom layout teams or resources.

Education Requirements

Posting specifies completion of a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of related experience, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of related experience. The posting references Electrical Engineering as the primary field; no other degrees, certifications, or explicit "equivalent experience" language beyond the degree+years statements were provided.
