Job Title
Senior Staff Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design digital subsystems and IP for mixed-signal SoCs, working from architecture through production silicon. Collaborate with analog, verification, layout, and test teams to deliver high-performance, manufacturable ASICs.
Experience Level
Senior — experience guidance provided: Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years, Master’s with 8+ years, PhD with 6+ years of relevant digital IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, RTL development, verification, and silicon bring-up for digital blocks in mixed-signal products.
- Design and implement digital subsystems and IP blocks from architecture through tape-out.
- Develop RTL using Verilog and integrate blocks into larger SoC environments.
- Design and verify DSP, control, and data-path logic, including calibration and monitoring state machines.
- Perform functional and integration verification and support UVM-based verification teams.
- Contribute to behavioral and system modeling of digital and mixed-signal systems.
- Support post-silicon validation, characterization, lab bring-up, and silicon debug.
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure correct interaction between digital logic and analog circuitry.
- Participate in design reviews, tape-out readiness checks, and root-cause analysis for silicon or system issues.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong Verilog RTL design experience.
- Deep understanding of the digital design flow: microarchitecture, RTL development, timing constraints, and synthesis.
- Clock and reset domain crossing (CDC) expertise.
- Functional verification experience and familiarity working with UVM-based teams.
- Experience designing and verifying complex state machines and control logic.
- Familiarity with CMOS VLSI design fundamentals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in team-based, fast-paced environments.
Nice-to-have:
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) background, including FIR/IIR implementations.
- Experience with ARM-based SoCs, bus architectures, and microprocessor subsystems.
- Experience with mixed-signal IC development and digital/analog interaction.
- Exposure to low-power and high-performance ASIC design techniques.
- Back-end flow experience: synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis.
- Experience generating test vectors and supporting production or probe test environments.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools for modeling and validation.
- Strong lab and silicon validation skills, including silicon debug and characterization.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience guidance in the posting: Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years relevant digital IC design experience; Master’s degree with 8+ years; PhD with 6+ years.
