Senior/Staff Design Automation Engineer - Scribe Layout Design (Non-Array)

Role Summary

Design automation engineer responsible for physical layout, floorplanning and verification of CMOS electrical test structures used for device development, compact modeling, reliability modeling and fab process monitoring. Part of the Scribe Design Non-Array (SDNA) team working with engineers in India, Japan and the US.

This role focuses on developing scalable layout automation, p-cell generators, and verification flows to support multiple Micron technologies.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include layout implementation, automation development, and cross-site collaboration.

• Create and verify physical layouts and floorplans for DUTs and test structures.
• Develop and maintain automation flows and EDA/CAD tool integrations; improve productivity and scalability.
• Implement programmatic P-cell (parameterized layout generator) devices and SKILL/SKILL++ based automation that scale across technologies.
• Run design-rule checks (DRC) and in-house verification tools; ensure design compliance.
• Identify opportunities for process and flow improvements and propose technical solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with global stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Advanced understanding of EDA tools and CAD flows.
• Experience with generative AI, AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and LLM-based automation for tooling and productivity improvements.
• Proven ability to develop programmatic P-cells and layout automation using SKILL/SKILL++.
• Strong Python skills for data processing and tool development; familiarity with Perl and Tcl is beneficial.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Good understanding of CMOS process manufacturing, layout design rules, and layout implementation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a dynamic, global team.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
