Job Title

Senior Staff ATE Test Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Staff ATE Test Engineer leads development of automated test (ATE) programs, test hardware and scaling solutions for analog, digital and mixed-signal semiconductor products, with a focus on power/analog devices. This role provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and coordinates across product engineering and operations to enable qualification, production ramp and quality support.

Expect to act as a subject-matter expert on ATE platforms and to deliver measurable improvements in test capability, yield and throughput.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical guidance: 10–12+ years of ATE and test-development experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include developing test solutions, supporting product qualification and production, and enabling the test organization.

  • Design and develop ATE test programs for NPI, qualification, characterization and production.
  • Support product qualification, characterization and lab-to-production correlation.
  • Mentor and train junior test engineers; build team capabilities.
  • Define and implement test processes, procedures, guidelines and quality reviews.
  • Develop baseline software and hardware solutions to scale test operations.
  • Coordinate with product engineering and operations for production ramp and release readiness.
  • Support production yield analysis and customer return investigations.
  • Act as an ATE equipment and platform expert; lead calibration and maintenance planning.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and external technical teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; condensed to essential items.

  • 10–12+ years hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and test development for analog, digital and mixed-signal devices.
  • Proven experience in ATE test program development and test hardware design.
  • Hands-on debugging and characterization of analog power products, including high-current testing and use of instruments (oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers).
  • Proficiency with ATE analog/digital instruments, PCB layout parasitic reduction, and strong debug/troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience debugging analog products that use serial bus interfaces.
  • Programming experience (examples: C++, BASIC, Perl, Python) for test software and automation.
  • Ability to define test ROI inputs and plan test flows with attention to revenue, COGS and capacity.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience coordinating with product and operations teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience on ATE platforms such as DMDX or STS8300.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
