Senior Staff Application Technology Architect – Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Role Summary
Lead definition and technical direction of AI and ML technologies for embedded and edge systems. Act as a cross-functional technical authority working with product, software, systems, and customers to deliver AI-enabled solutions across multiple market segments.
Work focuses on architecture, model deployment, hardware/software partitioning, and optimization of AI workloads on resource-constrained platforms.
Experience Level
Senior - requires substantial leadership and technical experience. The role requests 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
The role owns AI/ML architecture, drives solution roadmaps, and provides technical leadership across product and customer engagements.
- Define and own AI/ML technology architectures for embedded, edge, cloud-connected, and sensor-based systems.
- Translate customer problems and market trends into AI solution architectures and technology roadmaps.
- Drive development of reusable AI frameworks, inference pipelines, model-deployment methodologies, and reference implementations.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of machine learning, deep learning, foundation models, and agentic-AI technologies.
- Define architectures for sensor intelligence, signal processing, computer vision, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, sensor fusion, autonomous decision making, and multimodal AI.
- Drive hardware/software partitioning across MCUs, MPUs, AI accelerators (NPUs), DSPs, FPGAs, and cloud resources.
- Define efficient deployment strategies and optimize AI workloads for accuracy, latency, memory footprint, power consumption, and cost on resource-constrained platforms.
- Collaborate with product groups, software teams, system architects, and research partners to integrate AI capabilities into products.
- Support strategic customer engagements and act as a trusted technical advisor on AI architecture and deployment.
- Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership; contribute to reference architectures, papers, patents, and ecosystem initiatives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and leadership expected for immediate contribution.
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, advanced analytics, signal processing, computer vision, or intelligent embedded systems.
- Proven track record in senior technical roles such as AI Architect, Principal AI Engineer, Chief Architect, or equivalent.
- Expertise in machine learning and deep learning methods, statistical modeling, time-series and predictive analytics, explainable AI, and edge AI.
- Strong software and tooling experience: PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, model optimization, data pipelines, and AI deployment frameworks.
- Deep understanding of embedded systems and edge computing platforms, heterogeneous compute architectures, and AI acceleration technologies.
- Experience evaluating and optimizing models for latency, memory, power, and cost; and partitioning workloads across hardware targets.
- Nice-to-have: publications, patents, or a PhD; experience with foundation models, multimodal or agentic AI; domain experience in industrial automation, automotive, healthcare, robotics, aerospace, IoT, or consumer electronics.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with sensor analytics, anomaly detection, and embedded AI deployment.
Education Requirements
Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or a related field. (Source lists Master's or Ph.D.; related technical degrees acceptable.)
