Senior Staff Application Engineer, 48V DC/DC
Role Summary
Serve as the technical interface between product, test, and design engineering for 48V DC/DC systems. Provide design-in support, customer technical support, and develop technical collateral for new and existing products.
Drive system-level innovation by defining architectures, evaluating advanced power solutions, and validating complete 48V DC/DC systems to meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in 48V DC/DC power design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include customer-facing design support, system validation, and producing technical documentation.
- Investigate and verify advanced 48V DC/DC solutions to meet application requirements.
- Maintain and improve existing 48V solutions, including evaluation-board design and validation.
- Provide reference designs and technical support to customers; lead design reviews and resolve issues.
- Create product datasheets, application notes, presentations, and demo board user manuals (text, graphs, diagrams).
- Design and perform lab tests (manual and automated) to verify and characterize analog/power-management circuits using benchtop equipment.
- Perform system validation with new controllers, gate drivers, and power stages.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in 48V DC/DC power systems.
- Strong understanding of converter topologies, control-loop theory, and magnetics.
- Proficiency with SIMPLIS or similar switching-regulator circuit simulators.
- Proficiency with PCB CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Excellent lab problem-solving and root-cause debugging skills.
- Proven ability to drive projects and deliver results.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Power Electronics Engineering.
