Senior Staff Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Staff Analog Design Engineer will join Marvell's Central Engineering group as part of a small analog team responsible for developing high-performance analog or DSP-based transceivers in the multi-tens of GHz range using advanced CMOS nodes (3nm and beyond).

This on-site role in Pavia, Italy involves end-to-end block ownership from architecture through lab characterization, working closely with other IP and system teams and mentoring junior designers.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Expect multiple years of professional analog IC design experience (see Education Requirements for degree and specific years guidance).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, verification, and delivery of analog transceiver blocks:

  • Analyze block specifications and select appropriate topologies.
  • Design analog blocks at the transistor level and own blocks from architecture to lab characterization.
  • Supervise custom analog layout activities, provide layout guidelines, and perform post-layout verification.
  • Develop and validate behavioral and compact models for blocks.
  • Measure IC performance, debug silicon, and correlate measurements with simulations.
  • Collaborate with system, digital, and test teams to integrate and improve solutions.
  • Train and mentor junior designers and provide technical leadership within the team.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Proven experience designing analog ICs with full block ownership through lab bring-up and characterization.
  • Strong transistor-level analog design experience, preferably at multi-GHz frequencies.
  • Extensive experience with custom analog layout and supervising layout work.
  • Proficiency with industry EDA/CAD tools for design, simulation, and verification.
  • Experience measuring ICs and debugging to correlate simulation and silicon behavior.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Italian and English (B2 level or higher).
  • Must be able to work on-site at the Pavia, Italy office.

Nice-to-have:

  • Direct project experience with multi-Gbps electrical SerDes or electro-optical transceivers.
  • Experience with advanced CMOS nodes (FinFET and beyond) and DSP-based transceivers.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably Microelectronics) with 6+ years of relevant work experience, OR PhD in Electrical Engineering (preferably Microelectronics) with 3+ years of relevant work experience; fields: Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related technical fields.
