Job Title
Senior STA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead block-level digital synthesis and static timing analysis (STA) for complex SoC blocks, drive timing closure and power optimization, and mentor junior engineers. Work closely with digital design and physical implementation teams to achieve signoff-quality timing.
Onsite role in Bangalore with required travel of approximately 10%.
Experience Level
Senior β posting indicates 4β6 years of relevant experience in synthesis and STA.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead block-level digital synthesis and STA; drive timing closure for block and full-chip designs.
- Develop complex timing constraints and collaborate with designers on IP/subsystem/full-chip constraints.
- Perform timing signoff, apply timing ECOs (tool-driven and manual), and perform root-cause analysis of timing violations.
- Optimize digital designs for power and timing; work with liberty models including power info.
- Automate timing flows and analyses using Tcl/Perl/Python scripting.
- Support floor-planning, placement, CTS, routing, extraction and physical verification as needed for timing closure.
- Mentor junior engineers and communicate technical findings across teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience with digital synthesis, DFT insertion, timing analysis, and STA signoff.
- Deep knowledge of synthesis/STA/LEC/physical-design tool commands and constructs.
- Experience with STA and signoff of high-speed SoC designs in advanced nodes (16nm and below).
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for timing issues.
- Proficiency in scripting (Tcl, Perl, Python) and automating timing analysis flows.
- Familiarity with scan/DFT modes and RTL-to-GDS digital flow.
- Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience. The posting also references 4β6 years of relevant experience as preferred.
