Senior SQA Manager (C, C++, Python, CXL, PCIe)
Role Summary
Lead a small SQA team responsible for validating management subsystem, CXL, PCIe and memory-interconnect firmware and software. Deliver automation frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure protocol compliance and performance validation across releases.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management (3–4 engineers) with technical ownership of test architecture, debugging, and cross-functional coordination.
Experience Level
Senior; 10–15 years of relevant experience in software/test engineering and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Manage and mentor a team of ~3–4 SQA engineers; perform code reviews and enforce best practices.
- Design, develop, and maintain Python- and C/C++-based automation frameworks and production-grade test systems.
- Author and maintain Pytest (Python) and GTest (C/C++) test suites for firmware and software components.
- Validate PCIe, CXL, and memory-controller firmware for protocol compliance and performance.
- Integrate and operate tests within CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Debug test failures using pdb, VSCode/PyCharm debuggers, GDB or IDE debuggers; analyze logs and stack traces.
- Drive architectural discussions, influence cross-team technical decisions, and contribute code across projects.
- Leverage AI-driven testing tools and prompt engineering to generate or refine test scenarios.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 10–15 years developing and maintaining production-grade software systems using Python and contributing in C/C++.
- Proven people management experience overseeing ~3–4 engineers and mentoring junior staff.
- Expert proficiency with Pytest (Python) and GTest (C/C++).
- Strong debugging skills with pdb, VSCode/PyCharm debuggers, GDB or equivalent tools.
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Ability to write new test cases for both Python and C/C++ components and refactor suites for reliability.
- Experience validating protocol compliance and performance for PCIe/CXL or similar interconnects (preferred).
- Familiarity with generative AI and prompt engineering for testing workflows (nice-to-have).
- Eligibility to access export-controlled technology or willingness to undergo export license review if required.
