Senior Spice Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

As a Senior Spice Modeling Engineer on Intel's Design Technology Platform (PDK) team, you will develop, validate, and own SPICE/compact models and the methodologies that enable design for advanced process technologies. You will collaborate with extraction, technology development, library teams, and EDA partners to deliver validated models and improve modeling infrastructure.

Experience Level

Senior — posting requires advanced experience (Master's +6 years or PhD +3 years) in semiconductor device physics and compact/SPICE modeling.

Responsibilities

Deliver and maintain SPICE models, validation flows, and modeling standards; lead technical decisions and cross-team coordination. Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and validate SPICE/compact model files for advanced process nodes and resolve model-to-hardware correlation issues.
• Define and drive automation strategy for QA/validation flows to improve coverage, efficiency, and scalability.
• Architect and optimize test structures for model-to-hardware correlation and parasitic extraction.
• Define extraction methodologies for IV/CV data and represent the team in technical sign-off discussions.
• Author and maintain documentation, guidelines, and training materials to establish best practices.
• Partner with technology development and design engineering leadership on compact model strategy and process file direction.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical roadmap.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred qualifications follow.

• Proven, hands-on experience developing, validating, and driving sign-off of compact/SPICE models within a foundry PDK environment.
• Strong semiconductor device physics and practical extraction experience from IV/CV data; experience with parasitic extraction correlation.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and experience building or owning modeling automation infrastructure.
• Ability to communicate technical work to customers and cross-functional leadership and align stakeholders.
• Preferred: demonstrated leadership of compact modeling methodology decisions at advanced process nodes and experience presenting to external partners.

Education Requirements

Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or PhD with 3+ years of experience, in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field focused on semiconductor device physics (as specified in the posting).
