Senior Solution Engineer, Networking

Role Summary

Senior engineer on the NVIDIA Enterprise Experience (NVEX) Solutions Engineering team supporting networking technology used in AI clusters. Work with customer support, R&D, and external customers to reproduce, root cause, and resolve complex network and software issues across high-performance interconnects.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects an experienced engineer (guidance in posting: 8+ years of relevant software and C development experience).

Responsibilities

Provide advanced technical support and engineering for NVIDIA networking technologies in production AI/HPC environments.

  • Reproduce, diagnose, and root-cause complex customer issues in production networks and AI clusters.
  • Collaborate with R&D to develop bug fixes, workarounds, and production-ready solutions.
  • Analyze network performance and recommend tuning for high-performance, lossless networks.
  • Develop tools for log, trace, and performance analysis to support field troubleshooting.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for NVIDIA networking technologies (InfiniBand, NVLink, Spectrum-X).
  • Communicate findings and technical explanations to customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Occasional weekend or holiday support as required for critical customer issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role; listed separately are desirable skills that improve candidacy.

  • 8+ years of C programming experience in Linux and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in Python for tooling and analysis.
  • 8+ years developing software in one or more of: Linux NIC drivers, switch ASICs and SDKs, embedded network device firmware, Linux-based network equipment (routers, switches, gateways), network operating systems, virtual routers, SDN stacks, virtual switching, DPDK, SR-IOV.
  • At least 3 years supporting end-customers, partners, or integrators for network equipment and infrastructures.
  • Strong system software expertise (firmware, BIOS, kernel, drivers, operating systems) and experience debugging down to source code.
  • Experience with IPC, race conditions, event loops, queue management, and network traffic/flow analysis.
  • Professional-level communication skills and experience interacting with technical audiences under pressure.

Nice-to-have:

  • Background in AI infrastructure and HPC networking.
  • Experience programming switch and NIC ASICs and SDKs.
  • Experience with InfiniBand or other non-Ethernet network technologies.
  • Experience developing or supporting DPUs or SmartNICs.
  • Familiarity with HPC performance test tools and NVIDIA AI stacks (NCCL, MPI, DOCA, CUDA).

Education Requirements

Minimum of a BS in Computer, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
