Senior Software Engineer (Platform)

Role Summary

Develop and operate backend platform services for Altium 365. Work on cloud-native applications, scalable data processing, search and authentication components, and platform frameworks used by multiple product teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 6+ years of .NET experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver, operate and improve platform services and frameworks; drive architecture and engineering standards across teams.

• Design, implement and operate cloud-native backend services and microservices.
• Build and maintain platform features such as identity/authentication, access and license management, message queues, distributed caches, and search.
• Work on large-scale data processing, data modelling, and intent-based API design.
• Profile, optimize and load/stress test high-load distributed systems for reliability and performance.
• Define platform frameworks, multi-tenancy patterns, and security models (e.g., Rings Protection Model).
• Influence technical direction and drive architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices and technical governance for the platform.
• Use CI/CD, containerization and orchestration tooling to deliver and operate services.

• Must-have: 6+ years of professional .NET experience (.NET Core and .NET Framework).
• Must-have: Proven experience building and operating distributed, high-load systems including profiling, optimization, load testing and stress testing.
• Must-have: Deep expertise in one or more of: identity and authentication, access/license management, message queues/brokers, distributed caches, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, relational database design and optimization, platform framework development, multi-tenancy, or Rings Protection Model.
• Must-have: Ability to influence technical direction and drive architectural decisions across teams.
• Must-have: Experience defining and driving engineering standards and technical governance at a platform level.
• Technical familiarity: AWS, MySQL, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Jenkins.
• Nice-to-have: Firebird, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Azure/GCP/AliCloud.
