Senior - requires substantial experience; this role expects ~12+ years in embedded, firmware, or Linux system software.

Responsibilities

Deliver and own the technical strategy, integration, and operating model for platform boot across teams and product releases.

  • Define and own technical strategy and roadmap for BlueField platform boot from early firmware through Linux login.
  • Set platform boot direction with architecture, firmware partners, and product teams.
  • Lead resolution of complex cross-layer technical issues (reliability, security, performance, recovery, platform readiness).
  • Define interface contracts, qualification criteria, release decisions, and escalation paths for boot integration.
  • Identify and drive adoption of tools, methods, and technologies that improve capability, quality, and engineering efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by concise nice-to-have items.

  • 12+ years experience in embedded, firmware, or Linux system software working on platform/SoC boot and bring-up.
  • Deep practical knowledge of ARM platform boot flow: firmware, ATF, bootloaders, Linux kernel bring-up, device tree, platform initialization, and userspace handoff.
  • Proven track record leading complex cross-organizational projects from definition through delivery and making decisions with material product or schedule impact.
  • Experience influencing architecture and product direction through technical leadership without direct management authority.
  • Strong C skills and hands-on Linux development, debugging, and hardware/software integration experience.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with ATF, UEFI/EDK II, Linux kernel, or complex ARM SoC/server boot flows.
  • Experience with secure boot, measured boot, provisioning, firmware update, or recovery flows.
  • Experience building automated test, simulation/emulation, observability, or failure-triage infrastructure.
  • Experience introducing tools or practices that significantly improved team efficiency or technical capability.
  • Familiarity with PCIe, I2C/I3C, SPI, SMBus, BMC interactions, reset/power sequencing, and server-platform interfaces.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
