Job Title

Senior Software Engineer — AI Compiler

Role Summary

Work on TT-Forge, Tenstorrent's MLIR-based compiler, to enable AI workloads to run efficiently on Tenstorrent hardware. The role sits on a compiler/software team that builds compiler infrastructure, optimization passes, and integrations with high-level ML frameworks.

This is a hybrid role based in Santa Clara, CA; Austin, TX; or Toronto, ON.

Experience Level

Senior. The team will calibrate final level during interview; no explicit years-of-experience requirement is listed.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building and improving compiler components that map ML models to Tenstorrent hardware.

  • Develop and maintain compiler infrastructure in C++ and Python (TT-Forge / MLIR-based).
  • Design and implement optimization passes and custom MLIR dialects to improve performance and correctness.
  • Bridge high-level frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow) to low-level execution targets.
  • Work on multi-chip scaling, graph optimization, and transformation pipelines for training and inference workloads.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and software engineers and contribute to open-source projects and toolchains.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints.

  • Fluent in C++ and Python with experience building complex software systems.
  • Practical experience with compiler optimization, or strong systems/ML background applicable to compilers.
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in ML frameworks and runtimes (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow) and how they connect to compilers.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn MLIR and modular compiler frameworks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in open-source projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Employment is contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology (citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to obtain required licenses).

Nice-to-have: prior work on custom MLIR dialects, compiler transformation passes, multi-chip scaling, or human-in-the-loop compiler tooling.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
