Job Title
Senior Software Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead on the Calibre LSG (Layout Synthetic Generator) team responsible for designing and implementing core software that generates realistic synthetic layout patterns for design-rule development, testchip generation, and early process enablement for advanced semiconductor nodes. Work involves cross-team collaboration, customer engagement, architecture design, and mentoring engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years of professional software development experience with technical leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Deliver architecture and implementation for scalable, rule-driven layout generation and related infrastructure; lead projects and collaborate with internal teams and customers.
- Design and implement core layout synthesis and pattern-generation software components.
- Build and extend systems for rule-driven pattern generation and design-space exploration.
- Develop configuration-driven infrastructure for layout generation and pattern synthesis.
- Provide architectural direction and lead execution across distributed/global teams.
- Integrate LSG capabilities into Calibre workflows and influence product direction.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote strong engineering practices.
Requirements
Key qualifications and technical skills. Degrees are listed separately under Education Requirements.
-
Must-have: 5+ years of software development experience with proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
-
Must-have: Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture; experience building high-performance, complex systems (geometry processing, compilers, simulators, or EDA tools).
-
Must-have: Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective written/verbal communication across global teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with semiconductor design or EDA tools (layout, DRC, LVS, OPC) and familiarity with physical layout concepts (geometry, layers, spacing, rules).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with constraint-based or rule-driven systems, test generation, synthetic data generation, PDK/DRC rule decks, or layout verification flows.
-
Nice-to-have: Track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers; experience with AI-assisted workflows or data-generation pipelines.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
