Senior Software Development Engineer - C++
Role Summary
Join the Vivado Design Suite software team to design and implement high-performance software for FPGA and adaptive SoC tool flows. The role focuses on core algorithms, frontend/backend modules, performance optimization, and delivering features end-to-end within a cross-functional EDA product team.
You will collaborate with architects, product managers, QA, and customer engineering to translate requirements into production-quality implementations.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires a minimum of 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with large C/C++ codebases and performance-sensitive applications.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Design and implement core algorithms, data models, and modules across frontend and backend components.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features: specification, development, integration, testing, and release.
- Collaborate with software architects, product managers, EDA domain experts, QA, and customer engineering teams.
- Profile, debug, and optimize performance-critical code and benchmarks.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote best practices (CI/CD, unit testing, refactoring).
- Investigate and propose more efficient implementation approaches for existing functionality.
- Develop and maintain technical relationships with peers and partners.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 10+ years of professional software development experience (senior level).
- Strong object-oriented programming skills in C/C++ and experience writing high-quality, maintainable code.
- Experience with concurrent programming and threading APIs.
- Proven debugging and problem-solving skills for performance-sensitive applications.
- Familiarity with software development tools such as debuggers and source control (GitHub).
- Effective communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with profilers, CI/CD pipelines, and unit testing frameworks.
- Practical knowledge of FPGA architectures and EDA tools.
- Experience with large-scale EDA or compilation toolchains.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
