Job Title

Senior Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work on systems-level software, compilers, and backend EDA physical-design tools for semiconductor products within AMD/Xilinx. The role focuses on developing, debugging, and optimizing operating-system-level software, simulators, compilers, and EDA tooling to support CPU and SoC design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, development, and validation of software and tools that interact with CPU hardware and EDA flows.

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug OS-level software, compilers, and network/distribution software.
  • Develop and maintain simulators and tools (including open-source simulators such as Gem5) used for CPU and system evaluation.
  • Work on backend EDA physical design and physical synthesis for advanced process technologies.
  • Implement and integrate EDA AI agents and automation to increase productivity.
  • Analyze hardware/software interaction, including kernel–CPU interfaces and cache/microarchitecture behavior.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects, compiler teams, and EDA engineers to influence hardware design for compatibility and performance.
  • Apply engineering principles and best practices to design, development, and testing of software and infrastructure tools.

Requirements

Minimum required technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Minimum: 1 year of experience in the offered role or a closely related engineering position.
  • Experience with physical synthesis and backend EDA physical-design flows.
  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and cache hierarchy; experience improving CPU efficiency via microarchitecture changes.
  • Experience with open-source simulators, including Gem5.
  • Experience working with compilers and compiler-related toolchains.
  • Proficiency with HDL (Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with the Linux kernel and kernel–CPU interaction.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering. The posting also allows equivalent preparation through graduate coursework, research, internships, and/or relevant work experience.
