Senior SoC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on functional verification of SoC blocks and subsystem integration to ensure silicon meets specification and quality targets. You will design verification environments, develop tests and closure plans, and collaborate with RTL, firmware and software teams to find and fix complex issues.
Experience Level
Senior — typically expected to have substantial industry experience (generally 7+ years) in SoC or ASIC verification.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities focus on planning, implementing and executing verification for SoC components and integrations.
- Define verification plans and coverage goals for SoC blocks and subsystems.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and verification environments.
- Develop directed, constrained-random tests and close functional coverage.
- Write and maintain assertions (SVA) and protocol checkers.
- Run and maintain regression suites on simulators and emulation platforms; analyze and debug failures to root cause.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, firmware and software teams to resolve cross-domain issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote verification best practices and tooling improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for this role.
- Proven SoC/ASIC verification experience with SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong experience with coverage-driven verification and functional coverage closure.
- Experience writing assertions (SVA) and using assertion-based verification techniques.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation (Python, Tcl or similar) for test generation and regression management.
- Experience using commercial simulators and emulation platforms; strong debug and root-cause analysis skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication; experience collaborating across RTL, firmware and software teams.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with Arm architectures, emulation/FW integration, formal methods, or complex interconnect/memory subsystem verification.
