Job Title

Senior SoC Pre-Silicon Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Performs functional logic verification of integrated SoCs to ensure designs meet specifications. Responsible for developing verification plans, scalable testbenches, simulation/emulation models, and debug procedures across block, subsystem, and full-chip levels.

Works within the Data Center Group on server-class SoC products and collaborates closely with architects, RTL developers, postsilicon, and physical design teams. This role requires on-site presence in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of industry experience in pre-silicon verification or equivalent professional experience. See Education Requirements for degree-and-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, executing, and improving pre-silicon verification for SoC designs.

  • Define and develop block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans and reusable testbenches.
  • Create and run emulation and system simulation models to validate functionality, performance, and power.
  • Replicate failures, perform root-cause analysis, debug issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, microarchitects, RTL developers, postsilicon and physical design teams to resolve complex design issues.
  • Document test plans, drive technical reviews, and close coverage gaps.
  • Integrate security tests into regression and debug suites.
  • Maintain and improve verification infrastructure and methodologies; update plans based on postsilicon feedback.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions (education and degree-related experience are listed under Education Requirements).

  • Minimum ~4–5+ years practical experience in relevant verification activities (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
  • Experience with hardware description and verification languages and methodologies: Verilog/VHDL, SystemVerilog, UVM.
  • Experience with simulation/emulation tools, debugging scripts, and functional coverage analysis.
  • Python for test automation; C/C++ and scripting (Perl, Tcl, Shell).
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (VCS, Xcelium, Questa), assertions, constrained-random techniques, formal verification, and coverage closure.
  • Knowledge of ARM-based SoC architectures, AMBA protocols (AXI/AHB/APB), interconnects, memory subsystems, cache coherency, and power management preferred.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet) and pre-silicon verification practices preferred.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and version control systems (Git, Perforce); regression testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security verification methodologies and incorporating security coverage into test plans preferred.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Must have unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (no visa sponsorship).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience; or a Master's degree with 4+ years of industry experience. Preferred: advanced academic or professional experience contributing to complex CPU or SoC design projects.
