Job Title

Senior SoC Electrical Validation and Tuning Engineer

Role Summary

Perform electrical and mixed-signal validation and tuning for SoC I/O interfaces to ensure analog performance, signal and power integrity, and production yield. Work within a Data Center Group engineering team focused on validating IP, defining test strategies, and closing post-silicon issues.

The role requires collaboration with architecture, design, and pre-silicon validation teams to develop validation procedures, infrastructure, and margin testing for industry-standard and custom interfaces.

Experience Level

Senior. Posting specifies experience guidance: minimum of 10 years with a Bachelor's degree, 8 years with a Master's, or 6 years with a PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include validation strategy, execution, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Define electrical validation strategies for I/O interfaces to meet analog performance and production targets.
  • Validate analog circuit performance, signal integrity compliance, and system-level margins.
  • Develop validation procedures, test infrastructure, and margin validation designs for IO and mixed-signal architectures.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and debug functional, triage, and electrical failures post-silicon.
  • Analyze customer returns to drive yield improvements and close test escapes.
  • Test interactions between electrical design features using validation infrastructure and test content.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, and pre-silicon teams to ensure DFT/DFM and validate IP.
  • Prepare validation specifications, evaluate IP readiness, and produce detailed test reports.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and technical specifications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role. Education details are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Extensive experience in analog and mixed-signal testing, hardware validation, and debug.
  • Proven expertise in electrical validation and debug processes, signal delivery design, and equalization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of signal and power integrity and validation protocols.
  • Experience with post-silicon validation/debug flows and test content development.
  • Practical experience developing validation infrastructure and system margin validation designs.
  • Proficiency in Python for validation automation and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated root-cause analysis skills and ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Preferred: familiarity with CPU architecture fundamentals, I/O validation techniques, leadership in validation planning, and strong cross-team communication skills.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related specialized field. The posting also details equivalent experience levels: minimum 10 years' experience with a Bachelor's, 8 years with a Master's, or 6 years with a PhD. Master's and PhD in relevant technical fields are listed as advanced qualifications.
