Senior SoC Design Verification Engineer — System Management Controller (SMC)

Role Summary

Validate the System Management Controller and enable multi-chip/chiplet SoC integration by designing and executing verification tests, building DV infrastructure, and debugging hardware/software issues. The role reports into the SoC verification team and works across design, architecture, and software teams.

Hybrid role based out of Toronto, ON; Boston, MA; or Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification development, test execution, and cross-team debugging for chiplet and multi-die systems.

  • Develop and maintain SMC verification tests and supporting DV infrastructure.
  • Write, execute, and track test plans for chiplet and multi-chip SoC designs.
  • Implement tests in C/C++ that are compiled, loaded, and run directly on the DUT.
  • Triage, analyze, and debug hardware/software failures with design and architecture teams.
  • Build and extend verification infrastructure and automation to support scalable multi-die flows.
  • Collaborate with distributed and remote teams; accept mentorship and provide technical feedback across disciplines.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in SystemVerilog and SV-UVM for verification.
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for test and infrastructure development.
  • Proven verification skills: writing test plans, building DV infrastructure, and debugging hardware/software flows.
  • Experience triaging issues and working closely with design and architecture teams.
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams and remote mentorship.
  • Experience with SoC or chiplet verification is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with UCIe, BoW, or other multi-die interconnect standards.
  • Experience with co-simulation methodologies such as Cocotb.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate verification.
