Senior SoC Design Lead
Nordic SemiconductorJob Title
Senior SoC Design Lead
Role Summary
Lead the SoC design team delivering next-generation microcontroller and wireless SoCs from architecture through tape-out and production. Own SoC-level design and integration, set technical direction for the digital design team, and coordinate across architecture, analog, verification, physical design, software and product teams.
Experience Level
Senior - expects extensive hands-on SoC and digital-design experience, including multiple SoCs taken to tape-out and production.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities span technical leadership, project delivery and cross-functional integration.
- Lead and grow the SoC design team: planning, task allocation, mentoring and performance follow-up.
- Own SoC-level architecture and microarchitecture decisions together with system architects, balancing performance, power, area, cost and time-to-market.
- Drive the SoC design flow from specification and RTL through integration, synthesis, timing closure, DFT and sign-off.
- Plan and track project schedule, deliverables and risks; report status to stakeholders and management.
- Define SoC integration and verification strategy with the verification team, including top-level, gate-level and low-power verification.
- Coordinate interfaces to analog, RF, memory, third-party IP, physical design, test and software teams.
- Support silicon bring-up, debug, characterization and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Improve design methodologies, flows, reuse and quality practices; document design decisions, assumptions, results and risks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and leadership experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with digital/SoC design and SoC integration, with a record of tape-outs to production.
- Proven experience leading technical teams or large design projects, with strong planning and delivery skills.
- Strong RTL design skills (Verilog/SystemVerilog), and experience with clock and reset architecture and low-power design methods.
- Solid understanding of embedded processor subsystems, bus fabrics, memory systems and on-chip interfaces.
- Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis, DFT and physical design handoff, and familiarity with verification methodology.
- Experience in silicon bring-up, debug and root-cause analysis.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; fluent English.
- Ability to take ownership, work across disciplines and mentor engineers.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics or a related field.
