Senior SoC Design Engineer
ArmJob Title
Senior SoC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and integrate RTL subsystems and SoC-level logic, collaborating with IP teams, verification, performance analysis and project management to deliver complex, power- and performance-optimised processing systems.
Work spans subsystem microarchitecture, RTL implementation, verification review and system-level performance trade-offs for products used in IoT, automotive and infrastructure computing.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting does not specify an exact years-of-experience requirement.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include subsystem design, integration and delivery:
- Understand incoming IPs, their interfaces and interactions with subsystem and SoC components.
- Develop subsystem microarchitecture specifications and implement RTL.
- Review verification plans, assist debugging and fix integration issues.
- Collaborate with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system PPA (performance, power, area).
- Run design checks (CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint) and address findings.
- Work with IP teams to propose refinements based on system-level integration.
- Improve team and organisation design methodologies and guide other engineers as needed.
- Coordinate with Project Management on plans and schedules to meet delivery targets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience in digital hardware design and Verilog HDL.
- Detailed knowledge of methods and techniques for complex SoC development.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint).
- Experience creating clear design specifications.
- Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python or similar) for automation and debug.
- Track record delivering sophisticated RTL subsystems on schedule.
- Ability to make and communicate high-level PPA trade-offs.
- Experience with synthesis, timing analysis and power management techniques.
- Good communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures.
- Knowledge of memory interconnects (e.g. AMBA ACE-Lite, AXI).
- Familiarity with processor subsystems, NoCs, security, PCIe, or system power management flows.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
