Job Title

Senior SoC Debug Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Silicon Validation team within Qualcomm's SoC digital hardware organization. Responsible for platform-level bring-up, pre-silicon and post-silicon debug, failure analysis, and enabling faster isolation of failing components across hardware and low-level software.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical guidance: 5–8 years of experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon enablement, bring-up, validation or related embedded platform debugging.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on diagnosing and reducing time-to-triage for platform failures and enabling automated debug flows.

  • Bring up, debug, and analyze failures at the embedded platform level in both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
  • Develop and implement solutions to speed platform-level debug and isolate failing components.
  • Create debug strategies and partner-facing plans to rapidly triage failures, including PVT and marginality issues.
  • Enable and apply Gen AI automation to parts of the debug flow.
  • Debug low-level software and hardware interactions affecting platform behavior.
  • Use and maintain debug tools (for example JTAG) and lab equipment (logic analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • 5–8 years experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon enablement, bring-up, or platform-level failure analysis.
  • Ability to inspect and reason about RTL and basic RTL constructs.
  • Experience applying Gen AI techniques to automate or accelerate debug processes.
  • Proven experience debugging low-level software and hardware issues at the platform level.
  • Hands-on use of debug tools (JTAG) and lab instrumentation (logic analyzer, scope, signal generator).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and clear communication with cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering. Minimum qualifications provide alternatives: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field (with 2+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration or related experience), OR Master's degree in Science/Engineering/related field (with 1+ year of relevant experience), OR PhD in Science/Engineering/related field.
