Job Title

Senior SoC Architect / Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and architect next-generation secure System-on-Chip (SoC) products, leading RTL and micro-architecture workstreams and collaborating across hardware, software and security teams. This role contributes to product definition, roadmap planning, silicon bring-up and cross-discipline integration.

Position is hybrid, based in SECQAI offices in London or Bristol with occasional customer travel.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 9+ years of relevant SoC architecture, design and implementation experience in advanced technology nodes.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define SoC architecture and translate application and stakeholder requirements into product specifications.
  • Design novel architectural features and perform trade-off studies on cost, performance, power and software usability.
  • Drive RTL design through synthesis, place-and-route and GDS flows, coordinating with physical design, DFT and verification teams.
  • Integrate and customise third-party IP in collaboration with IP providers.
  • Collaborate with software, CPU, verification, R&D and security teams to optimise system-level designs.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, design reviews and silicon bring-up activities.
  • Produce and review detailed technical documentation; maintain confidentiality and high integrity standards.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 9+ years of relevant SoC architecture, design or implementation experience in advanced technology nodes.
  • Proven experience with multi-core subsystems, interconnects and memory hierarchies.
  • Practical RTL ownership and experience driving designs to tape-out (RTL to GDS).
  • Power-user proficiency with industry-standard EDA and design tools (examples: Cadence, Synopsys, OpenRoad).
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration and communication skills.
  • High standards for design quality and documentation; able to work in an early-stage, fast-moving environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with RISC-V and CHERI ISAs.
  • Functional safety and security engineering knowledge and familiarity with relevant security standards.
  • Track record of taking multiple designs from concept through tape-out.

Education Requirements

B.Eng. / B.Sc., M.Eng. / M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field β€” or equivalent industry experience.
