Job Title

Senior Silicon Test Engineer

Role Summary

Work in Qualcomm's Product Engineering / Hardware Engineering team in Tijuana to validate and bring up new silicon, develop ATE hardware and software, characterize device performance, and deploy production test solutions for advanced packaging technologies.

The role requires cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing and test teams to develop test methodologies and release cost-effective production tests into mass production.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 3+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience (silicon bring-up and high-volume manufacturing experience expected).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include silicon validation, test development, device characterization, and production test release.

  • Validate and debug new silicon during bring-up.
  • Develop ATE hardware and software for device testing.
  • Characterize device performance across process and operating conditions.
  • Collaborate across functions to develop test methodologies for advanced packaging technologies.
  • Release cost-effective production test solutions into mass production.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

  • 3+ years' experience with silicon bring-up, hardware engineering, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience using common test equipment: ATE, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers.
  • Hands-on experience in validation, debug, and production test flow development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with ATE platforms (Advantest 93K), design-for-test (DFT) techniques and structural tests (Scan/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST), CPU testing, advanced package testing, programming (C/C++, Perl, JMP), and knowledge of VLSI, semiconductor device physics, CMOS, analog and mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL, codecs).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred and a PhD is also acceptable. The posting pairs degree levels with experience (e.g., Bachelor's + 2–3+ years, Master's + 1 year, or PhD).
