Senior Server Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead systems design and post-silicon validation engineer on server products (EPYC and AMD Instinct). The role focuses on post-silicon bring-up, validation, triage, and debug of SoC/platform hardware, firmware, and system-level issues.
You'll design and implement validation methodologies, develop tools and automation, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-quality silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires several years of post-silicon validation and system debug experience (senior/lead engineer responsibilities).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validation planning, debug, automation and cross-team coordination.
- Lead post-silicon validation, bring-up, triage and root-cause analysis for server SoC/platforms.
- Develop and improve validation tools, scripts and automation frameworks to increase execution efficiency and coverage.
- Debug issues across OS, firmware, silicon and platform hardware during validation and production phases.
- Create and execute test plans with multiple teams to ensure feature validation and schedule delivery.
- Use lab equipment and software/hardware modeling frameworks for complex debug efforts.
- Drive cross-functional communication with supporting technical teams to resolve findings and implement fixes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Several years of experience in post-silicon validation involving OS, firmware, silicon and SoC/platform hardware debugging.
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, technical debug methodologies and validation strategy.
- Programming/scripting experience (examples: C/C++, Python, Perl, Ruby).
- Experience with common lab equipment (protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Self-starter able to independently drive tasks to completion.
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship (position restriction).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with customer validation teams and server customer workflows.
- Experience using automation frameworks for test execution.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
