Senior Semiconductor Research Engineer
Role Summary
Research engineer responsible for sensing and evaluating semiconductor technologies (image, radar, lidar, inertial, environmental sensors) and translating device- and component-level findings into system-level value for automotive and intelligent mobility applications. Works within a Center of Excellence, collaborating with technical leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners to shape technical direction and long-term semiconductor capability.
Position is based in Raymond, OH; primarily onsite with one remote workday per week possible by approval.

Responsibilities
Perform research, technology sensing, and evaluation to inform technical strategy and product decisions. Support research projects using Agile methods and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Conduct technology sensing, assessment, benchmarking, and evaluation of semiconductor devices and sensors relevant to automotive applications.
- Translate device/component-level insights into system-level value propositions for products.
- Support and assist senior/principal researchers in defining research initiatives and proving hypotheses quickly using Agile methods.
- Design experiments to test hypotheses and validate technical approaches.
- Compile, document, and present sensing results and recommendations for department and division leadership and other internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to align research with business needs.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet quality standards under senior supervision.

Must-have: Knowledge of the semiconductor industry, including chip architectures, open-source IP/ISA, CPUs/GPUs/NPUs, FPGAs, SoCs, and heterogeneous integration.

Must-have: Experience with industry-standard EDA tools and hardware description languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog or similar).

Must-have: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Must-have: Working knowledge of Agile processes and experience designing experiments to validate hypotheses.

Nice-to-have: Experience in digital, analog, or mixed-signal chip design; familiarity with Assembly language.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required.
