Job Title
Senior Semiconductor Design Engineer, DRAM
Role Summary
Design and optimize DRAM memory circuits from gate-level blocks to full-chip layouts, validate performance across operating ranges, and support tape-out activities. Work on schematic and layout tasks, simulation and verification, and cross-functional coordination with test, process, CAD, and product teams.
Experience Level
Senior — posting specifies 3–4 years of semiconductor industry experience in combination with the degree requirements.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and layout activities across memory circuits and full-chip integration.
- Perform circuit simulations (SPICE, Verilog) and analyze/debug results.
- Design schematic blocks: memory arrays, control logic, address decoders, data paths, and internal test logic.
- Optimize circuit performance and interpret device specifications into die-level functionality across operating ranges.
- Manage layout tasks including floor-planning, placement, routing, and parasitic modeling.
- Support design validation, reticle experiments, tape-out revisions, and close-coverage verification activities.
- Engage with CAD, modeling, standards, and verification groups to improve design quality and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with Probe, Assembly, Test, Process Integration, and Product Engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and leverage automation or AI-based tools to improve efficiency.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required or preferred for the role.
Must-have:
- 3–4 years of semiconductor industry experience (as specified in posting).
- Foundational knowledge of CMOS design and memory applications.
- Solid experience in circuit design and in setting up, analyzing, and debugging simulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with mixed-signal circuit design and optimization.
- Experience specifically with memory circuit design and performance optimization.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering is stated as a minimum requirement. A Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a related field is listed as preferred. (Degrees and fields extracted from the posting.)
