Senior SDK Hardware Simulator Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and maintain high-performance C++ hardware simulation models that reproduce the behavior of Innatera's neuromorphic SoC to enable early software development and system validation before silicon is available.
This role sits on the SDK team and works closely with digital design, firmware, and SDK engineers to ensure simulations are accurate, performant, verifiable, and usable by internal and external developers.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and maintaining the simulation environment and supporting cross-team validation and software development.
- Design and implement simulation models in modern C++ (C++17/20) for neuromorphic processors, CPU cores, memory systems, DMA, and SoC components.
- Translate hardware specifications into high-performance, verifiable software models.
- Model and analyze performance characteristics such as power and latency to identify bottlenecks.
- Provide configurable simulator tooling to support early application development and SDK integration.
- Collaborate with Digital Design, Firmware, and SDK teams to validate fidelity of models against hardware intent.
- Maintain simulator code quality: write unit tests, perform code reviews, and improve maintainability.
- Contribute to the SDK feature set and participate in team design sessions and related SDK development tasks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Strong modern C++ development skills (C++17/20).
- Proven ability to design modular, maintainable, and testable software architectures.
- Experience in transaction-level modeling of hardware components.
- Solid understanding of digital hardware fundamentals (CPU, instruction sets, memory systems, DMA).
- Familiarity with hardware/software co-design practices.
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or SDK integration.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RTL simulation, waveform analysis, and signal-level hardware behavior.
- Experience in low-power, resource-constrained embedded programming.
- Exposure to bare-metal firmware development, including assembly.
- Familiarity with RISC-V or ARM architectures.
- Knowledge of machine learning at the edge, spiking neural networks (SNN), or related edge-AI concepts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
