Senior Runtime Systems Engineer

Role Summary

Work on runtime firmware and low-level systems software for an AI inference system-on-chip (SoC). Focus on runtime performance, architecture, implementation, and integration with hardware to enable datacenter AI inference.

Experience Level

Senior / Staff level — minimum of 5 years of industry experience in embedded software development is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing systems software and runtime firmware, ensuring runtime performance, and collaborating across hardware and software teams.

  • Architect, document, implement, and validate runtime firmware for multi-core on-chip CPU subsystems.
  • Design and develop low-level drivers and system software that host the SoC.
  • Optimize runtime performance and scalability for AI inference workloads.
  • Support distributed and scale-out application deployment and operation.
  • Define delivery schedules and ensure software meets coding and methodology guidelines.
  • Debug and resolve complex cross-stack issues spanning hardware, firmware, drivers, and OS.
  • Collaborate with hardware, hardware verification, and other software teams during bring-up and validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 5+ years industry experience in embedded software development with ownership of runtime or firmware components.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ for system-level development.
  • Linux system-level programming experience and strong knowledge of Linux device drivers.
  • Experience with containers and virtual machines.
  • Experience with distributed and scale-out applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver production-quality code and debug complex problems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Python.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant embedded software experience.
