Senior RTL Silicon Design & Validation Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Senior RTL Silicon Design & Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join the AECG Product Validation and Solutions Team to design and validate RTL for next-generation PCIe, CXL and connectivity IP used in datacenter, AI, acceleration and communications products. The role covers RTL design, verification planning, pre- and post-silicon validation and collaboration with global engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of relevant RTL design and silicon validation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities span architecture, RTL implementation, validation and productization of high-speed connectivity IP.
- Design, implement and productize PCIe, CXL and related connectivity IP for programmable silicon.
- Participate in all phases of product development: exploration, architecture, implementation, prototyping, validation and productization.
- Develop comprehensive test plans including compliance and interoperability testing; review design implementations and verification plans.
- Perform pre-silicon and post-silicon validation and silicon bring-up for PCIe-enabled blocks.
- Manage IP validation, release activities and provide ongoing product support.
- Collaborate with global cross-site engineering teams and provide technical leadership in assigned areas.
Requirements
Required and preferred technical skills and tools for effective performance in this role.
- Must-have: 8+ years of hands-on experience in RTL design and silicon validation, including IP/SOC design methodologies.
- Must-have: Strong RTL coding skills in Verilog and SystemVerilog and experience with RTL simulation tools (e.g., VCS, ModelSim).
- Must-have: Experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation and silicon bring-up.
- Must-have: Experience with FPGA prototypes for system or IP validation.
- Must-have: Proficiency with scripting and automation: Tcl, Perl, Python, UNIX shells and Makefiles.
- Must-have: Practical experience with lab equipment relevant to PCIe and high-speed interfaces (e.g., exerciser/analyzer tools).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with high-speed protocols and interfaces such as PCIe (Gen6/Gen7), CXL, NVMe, Ethernet, DDR3/4/5, LPDDR, HBM, and AMBA AXI/AHB/APB.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of C/C++ and additional verification or debug tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 8+ years of related experience.
