Senior RFIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop RF LNAs and switches for cellular applications and support their integration into multi-chip modules (MCM). Collaborate with module customers, layout designers, and lab technicians to tape out hardware, validate measurements, and optimize the RF chain.
Work is based in Apopka, FL and requires delivering production-ready silicon on aggressive schedules.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires more than 5 years of RFIC design experience, especially with LNA and/or switch designs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop RF LNAs and switches for cellular applications using SOI and BiCMOS technologies.
- Support standalone LNA and switch modules and their integration into multi-chip modules (MCM).
- Collaborate with internal module customers to define die deliverables and optimize the RF chain.
- Work with layout designers to apply RF layout best practices.
- Design analog support blocks (bandgap, LDO, bias circuits) as needed.
- Create test laminates, coordinate measurements, and perform sim-vs-meas correlation; troubleshoot lab measurement issues.
- Conduct peer reviews of designs and document expected and actual results.
- Write regular program updates and communicate progress and issues clearly.
- Execute to an aggressive schedule and work independently.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- More than 5 years of RFIC design experience focused on LNA and/or switches.
- Proficiency with HFSS, Cadence, and ADS.
- Strong background in RF measurements and characterization.
- Working knowledge of device physics relevant to LNA and switch design tradeoffs.
- Experience with linear and nonlinear simulation techniques and refining sims for first-pass predictability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RF PA and large-signal circuit design.
- Proven track record releasing production LNAs and switches for mobile applications.
Education Requirements
MSEE or PhD in an RF-related field.
