Senior RFIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior RFIC Design Engineer on the RF Semiconductors team, based in Limerick, Ireland. Responsible for RFIC product development across markets, covering transistor-level IC design, evaluation, and product verification.
The role works independently with limited supervision, contributes to project leadership, and may mentor junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 4+ years of relevant RFIC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Transistor-level integrated circuit design for RF blocks.
- Design evaluation, including first-silicon characterization and detailed analysis.
- Design and development of RF products across process and packaging technologies.
- Problem analysis and resolution, developing recommendations within established practices.
- Project contributions and leadership; representing the organization on projects and occasionally leading project work.
- Cross-functional communication with internal teams and external contacts.
- Preparing documentation and reports for product development.
- Mentoring and supporting the technical growth of junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience, plus common desirable extras.
- Strong understanding of S-parameters, transmission line theory, and RF networks.
- Proven ability to design, simulate, and verify circuit performance at transistor and behavioral/architectural levels.
- Experience with circuit design environments such as Cadence and Keysight ADS.
- Demonstrated experience with first-silicon evaluation and RF characterization workflows.
- Good technical communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel (~10%) and to learn new tools or techniques quickly.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electromagnetic simulators such as EMPro and/or HFSS.
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment and advanced characterization techniques.
- Prior mentorship or leadership experience on technical projects.
Education Requirements
Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering; M.S. preferred and Ph.D. a plus. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
