Senior RF System Level Test (SLT) Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior RF System Level Test (SLT) Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and validate RF calibration and verification test content on system-level test (SLT) platforms, progressing from bench validation to automated high-volume production screening. Work with RF systems, software, product engineering, and test teams to define test strategy, launch test programs, and drive yield and quality improvements.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 3+ years of RF product test, RF calibration/verification, or system-level test experience (see Education Requirements for degree/experience combinations listed in the posting).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning SLT coverage, bringing up test content, and improving test throughput and yield.
- Define RF SLT test strategy and coverage, including RF calibration, RF verification, and modem functional tests in collaboration with RF systems, RF software, and validation teams.
- Bring up and validate RF test content on SLT bench and automated platforms from early silicon through high-volume manufacturing.
- Develop, release, and maintain RF SLT test programs; set test limits and optimize test time and throughput.
- Plan RF test hardware (callboxes, shielding boxes, splitters, handlers) and model capacity to support volume screening.
- Analyze RF failure signatures, correlate SLT results with other test insertions, and drive root-cause analysis to improve yield and reduce DPPM.
- Integrate RF verification into handler-based automated testing with automation and software teams.
- Prepare technical reports, test plans, and status updates for stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Hands-on RF calibration and verification experience (examples: Tx/Rx gain, feedback-receiver, DPD, RSB/IQ calibration; measurements such as max power, frequency error, EVM, OBW, SEM, ACLR, receiver sensitivity).
- Experience with RF test equipment: radio communication testers/callboxes, spectrum/signal analyzers, RF shielding boxes, and RF splitters.
- Experience with test sequencers, test automation, and deploying tests in handler-based production environments.
- Programming/scripting experience in Python, C#, or C/C++; familiarity with source control (Git or equivalent).
- Ability to debug using modem/RF logs, Android debugging tools, or JTAG.
- Strong data analysis skills (yield, parametric distribution, correlation) and effective written and verbal English for collaboration with global teams.
- Nice-to-have: mmWave experience; experience with cellular modem, RF transceiver, or mobile/automotive SoC products; experience modeling capacity for high-volume screening.
Education Requirements
The posting references degree and experience combinations including: a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field (listed with ~2–3+ years of hardware engineering experience in different sections); a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics/Communication Engineering or related field (listed with ~1–2+ years); or a PhD in a related field. The posting also allows related work experience in lieu of a degree. Preferred: Master’s in Electrical or Communication Engineering. No specific certifications were listed.
