Job Title
Senior RF Filter Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop BAW and SAW acoustic filtering components and front-end module solutions for mobile RF applications within a multidisciplinary RF device and packaging team in Munich.
Work hands-on on device design, simulation, layout and transfer to production while collaborating with process, test, product and R&D engineers to meet performance and manufacturability targets.
Experience Level
Senior level (title: Sr). Experience guidance: approximately 3+ years relevant industry experience; role assumes independent technical contribution and leadership on design tasks.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop BAW and SAW filtering components for wireless RF applications.
- Perform feasibility studies and competitive technical analyses to define new products.
- Design microwave acoustic devices (bandpass, ladder, notch, CRF, acoustic-assisted filters, etc.).
- Run acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations and deliver final device layouts for photomask creation.
- Collaborate with process engineers and R&D to account for fabrication variations and capabilities.
- Work with characterization and test teams to evaluate and diagnose devices using RF/microwave test equipment.
- Document designs and product information; support product transfer to production and application teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design flows, methods, and cycle time.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical knowledge of circuit simulation, front-end radio architectures, RF characterization, and system-level measurements.
- Experience with EM and RF design tools such as HFSS, AWR, ADS, or similar.
- Knowledge of micro-electronics technology and fabrication processes (practical awareness rather than degree detail).
- Good communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Direct experience with BAW or SAW device design.
- Programming or scripting skills (e.g. MATLAB) and experience with statistical/process-improvement methods.
- Familiarity with wireless protocols and communication standards.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 3+ years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience. PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field is listed as preferred. Equivalent practical experience is accepted.
