Job Title

Senior RF Engineering Technician

Role Summary

Support the Test Engineering Group within Qorvo's Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP) to perform design validation and RF testing from DC through mmWave frequencies. The role is based in the San Jose, CA lab and involves hands-on test execution, calibration, fixture assembly, and collaboration with test development engineers.

Position includes reporting test progress, providing training and guidance to junior staff, and supporting continuous improvement of test setups and processes.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial practical experience; the posting specifies 8 years of RF component testing experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities in the RF test lab include:

  • Execute DC and RF testing from DC to mmWave frequencies in an RF lab environment.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate S-parameter and power test stations per Qorvo standards.
  • Perform limited troubleshooting of test setups and assemble fixtures and wire harnesses.
  • Collaborate with test development engineers to improve test setups and procedures.
  • Report test progress to managers and internal customers.
  • Support and deliver training; mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements

Required skills, tools, and attributes (must-haves listed first):

  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment: PXI systems, RF sources, pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, noise figure analyzers, power meters, power supplies, and digital multimeters.
  • Practical knowledge of RF test methodologies: S-parameters, noise figure, power and pulsed power measurements, TOI, harmonics, ACP, video bandwidth, DPD and modulation testing (AM/AM, AM/PM, PAM), and common modulation schemes (LTE/TDD, WCDMA, QAM).
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a changing lab environment; basic test setup troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; team-oriented and positive attitude.
  • Relocation eligible for this San Jose, CA position.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship by the company.

Education Requirements

Associate of Science (AS) degree in Engineering and 8 years of experience in RF component testing.
