Senior R&D Manager, Semiconductor Process and Device Simulations
Role Summary
Lead an R&D team responsible for developing semiconductor process and device simulation technologies within Siemens Digital Industries Software. Drive technical direction, coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts, and deliver simulation tools and integrations for product workflows.
Focus areas include simulation algorithms, tool integration, software quality and delivery, with responsibility for people management, project planning, and stakeholder communication.
Experience Level
Senior-level β typically 7+ years of relevant experience leading technical teams in semiconductor/device simulation, software development, or closely related engineering domains, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, program management, and delivery of simulation capabilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of R&D engineers; recruit and develop talent.
- Define technical roadmap, priorities, and architecture for process and device simulation efforts.
- Oversee development, integration, and validation of simulation algorithms and software tools.
- Coordinate with product management, engineering, and customers to translate requirements into deliverables.
- Manage project schedules, resources, and risk to meet milestones and quality targets.
- Establish and enforce software engineering best practices, code quality, and testing.
- Promote the integration of visualization, GUI, and geometry capabilities into simulation workflows where relevant.
Requirements

Must-have: Proven experience leading R&D teams and delivering technical software projects in semiconductor/device simulation or a closely related field.

Must-have: Strong software development experience (Python or similar) and familiarity with software engineering practices for complex technical applications.

Must-have: Deep understanding of semiconductor process and device simulation concepts, or equivalent domain knowledge.

Preferred: Experience with desktop GUI frameworks (Qt, QML) and developing complex technical user interfaces.

Preferred: Familiarity with 2D/3D visualization, rendering pipelines, coordinate transforms, or geometry processing.

Nice-to-have: Exposure to OpenGL, VTK, OpenCascade, CGAL, Blender API, CAD/simulation/EDA tools, or related visualization libraries.
