Senior R&D Engineer - Embedded Memory

Role Summary

Design, simulate, and validate embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, Register Files) for production semiconductor IP using Cadence Virtuoso and related tools. Work with layout, CAD, verification, and frontend teams to deliver memory blocks that meet performance, power, and area targets.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting requests 1–3 years of hands-on CMOS memory design experience.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Design and simulate embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, Register Files) using Cadence Virtuoso and simulation tools.
• Support layout by collaborating with layout engineers to preserve design intent.
• Run bitcell characterization and basic reliability analysis across PVT corners.
• Debug circuit-level issues from simulation, identify root causes, and propose fixes.
• Coordinate with CAD, verification, and frontend teams on timing, integration, and design requirements.
• Write and maintain design notes, simulation reports, and analysis summaries.
• Automate repetitive tasks and data analysis using scripts (C-Shell, Perl, Python).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Must-have: 1–3 years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience specifically with embedded memory (SRAM, ROM, Register Files).
• Must-have: Working knowledge of memory architectures, bitcell design, and circuit fundamentals (read/write, sense amplifier behavior).
• Must-have: Experience using Cadence Virtuoso or similar tools for schematic capture and simulation; ability to collaborate on layout interaction.
• Nice-to-have: Experience scripting in C-Shell, Perl, or Python to automate flows and analyze data.
• Must-have: Ability to read simulation waveforms, debug issues, and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly in English.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
