Job Title
Senior Quantum Engineer - Cryo-CMOS Analog Circuit Design
Role Summary
Design and develop analog CMOS circuits and subsystems for cryogenic quantum control electronics. Work on a small cross-functional quantum control team to translate system requirements into robust circuit implementations, support ASIC bring-up and lab validation, and drive system-level performance across analog, digital, and cryogenic domains.
Hands-on, multidisciplinary role combining analog circuit design, system architecture, simulation, and experimental validation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: senior (see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience combinations).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and develop CMOS analog circuits and functional blocks for quantum control applications.
- Define architecture and specifications for Cryo-CMOS subsystems in collaboration with system and hardware teams.
- Perform simulation and verification of full-custom analog and mixed-signal designs.
- Collaborate across analog, digital, and cryogenic domains to optimize system-level tradeoffs.
- Support ASIC bring-up, integration with system-level control hardware, and characterization in lab environments.
- Document designs, results, and methodologies for reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to technical reports and publications as appropriate.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and conditions:
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and meet export-control citizenship or residency verification requirements.
- Practical experience with analog/mixed-signal design flows and experimental validation (years depend on degree; see Education Requirements).
- Ability to leverage AI tools for modeling, analysis, research gathering, and task automation.
- Experience working in Linux-based development environments and familiarity with scripting or programming languages.
Nice-to-have:
- Extensive industry experience in analog/mixed-signal design and layout (10+ years preferred) and several years designing, simulating, and laying out CMOS analog circuits.
- Deep experience with EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso) and verification flows.
- Experience designing ADCs, DACs, PLLs, RF components, and attention to signal integrity in high-performance systems.
- Familiarity with digital design/verification languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Experience with cryogenic circuit design, low-temperature semiconductor behavior, quantum device interfaces, and hands-on ASIC bring-up and lab characterization.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills; track record of publications or internal reporting.
Education Requirements
One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 6+ years technical engineering experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 4+ years technical engineering experience; OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 1+ years technical engineering experience; OR equivalent practical experience.
