Senior QA Software Engineer, Networking

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's System Ethernet QA team to test and qualify virtual networking silicon (SimX) and related software. The role combines network protocol expertise, Python automation, and debugging to validate features (L2/L3, overlays, QoS, security) before hardware availability.

Responsibilities

Lead quality work from design through deployment and collaborate closely with R&D.

  • Review architectural designs and requirements for new features.
  • Design, develop, and execute tests across functional, performance, and security scopes for releases and updates.
  • Develop production-quality Python automation suites using clean OOP principles.
  • Investigate defects, validate fixes, and drive root-cause resolution.
  • Leverage the SimX platform to validate code and debug ASIC issues prior to hardware availability.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on QA or networking experience.
  • Strong network engineering knowledge: L2 (VLAN, STP), L3 (BGP, OSPF), EVPN, VXLAN, and advanced features such as PFC, ECN, RoCE, and QoS.
  • Production-quality Python engineering: strong OOP design and practical experience with Pytest.
  • Deep Linux proficiency to navigate system internals, analyze logs, and debug effectively.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Docker and traffic generation tools (Ixia, TRex, Scapy).
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware).

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or B.A. (or equivalent practical experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The posting also references CCNP-equivalent protocol knowledge and LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 level Linux proficiency as certification benchmarks or equivalent experience.
