Role Summary

Customer-facing technical product role within Siemens EDA focused on Calibre DesignEnhancer and related physical-design/verification solutions. The role partners with customers, application engineering, product management, and R&D to translate design challenges into product requirements, validate solutions, and support deployment.

Work includes technical engagement with semiconductor customers, evaluation of product capabilities on representative designs, driving requirements into R&D, and supporting adoption through demonstrations, training, and documentation.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial industry experience. The posting indicates 8+ years of relevant semiconductor industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve technical leadership for Calibre DesignEnhancer capabilities, customer engagement, and collaboration across product and engineering teams.

  • Act as technical expert for Calibre DesignEnhancer and related Calibre physical-design and verification tools.
  • Engage with semiconductor customers and field application engineers to gather and document design challenges and workflows.
  • Translate customer problems into product requirements, use cases, specifications, and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with R&D from concept through validation, deployment, and production release; provide detailed technical feedback.
  • Evaluate new capabilities on representative and customer designs; perform benchmarks, early-adopter programs, and validation.
  • Investigate complex customer/design-flow issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop practical solutions or methodologies.
  • Support customer presentations, demonstrations, training, application notes, and other technical materials.
  • Monitor semiconductor design trends, competitive solutions, and identify opportunities for new features and use models.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required for customer engagements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • 8+ years experience in physical design, physical verification, EDA product engineering, applications engineering, design methodology, or related area.
  • Strong understanding of IC physical-design flow including floorplanning, place-and-route, routing and design closure, physical verification/DRC, power distribution networks, electromigration and IR-drop, and signoff flows.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex technical problems, determine root cause, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Experience using EDA tools in production semiconductor design flows.
  • Ability to convert customer requirements into clear technical requirements for software development teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience presenting technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with R&D, field engineering, customers, and product teams.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, Tcl, shell scripting, or similar).

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Hands-on experience with Calibre products (Calibre DRC, DesignEnhancer, RealTime) and shift-left methodologies.
  • Experience with place-and-route tools (Cadence Innovus, Synopsys Fusion Compiler/ICC2) and advanced-node implementation challenges.
  • Knowledge of EM/IR analysis, power-grid optimization, via optimization, filler/DCAP insertion, and related techniques.
  • Familiarity with LEF/DEF, GDSII, OASIS and foundry process design kits or foundry enablement.
  • Experience defining product features from customer requirement through production release and supporting evaluations/early-access programs.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (the posting specifies BS or MS). No other certifications were required or listed.
