Senior Product Application Engineer

Role Summary

Senior Product Application Engineer supporting China BU OCP products across the full product lifecycle: product definition, application design, customer enablement and production release. The role bridges IC design, marketing/system teams, validation, and customers to ensure products meet system-level requirements and are adopted in real systems.

Experience Level

Senior β€” experienced engineer expected to lead application-level product definition and customer support.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on system- and application-level product support, design-in, and customer enablement.

  • Develop system- and application-level understanding of products, customer use cases, performance trade-offs, and system constraints.
  • Translate customer application requirements into product definition inputs, electrical specifications, and usage guidelines.
  • Collaborate with IC design, marketing/system, and validation teams during product development and release.
  • Analyze silicon characterization and validation data; contribute to datasheet specifications and application recommendations.
  • Develop application schematics and reference designs; review PCB schematic and layout from an application perspective.
  • Support customer design-in activities and resolve application issues through lab evaluation and structured debugging.
  • Create application notes, user guides, reference code, and evaluation materials for customers, FAEs, and sales teams.
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide on-site technical support and feedback collection for future products.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role. Travel requirement and communication skills are included.

Must-have:

  • Strong background in signal-chain and mixed-signal systems (ADC, DAC, amplifiers, TIA, PGA).
  • Solid understanding of IC behavior in system-level applications, including performance trade-offs and limitations.
  • Experience reviewing PCB schematic design and layout at the application level.
  • Programming experience for lab automation, data analysis, or reference code (LabVIEW, Python, and/or C/C++).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel for customer support; approximately 10% travel.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with robotics motor control applications, embedded actuator control, sensing feedback, and real-time hardware/firmware interaction.
  • Experience producing application notes, reference designs, and evaluation materials for customers.

Education Requirements

MSEE or above in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree required per posting). Related technical fields acceptable if demonstrable equivalent expertise.
